At Westlea Primary School, the children and their learning are at the very heart of every decision made. This policy reflects our mix of pupils, their experience and needs. The school will help the students to develop tolerance, empathy and an understanding of others. It will also help the students to develop an inner discipline and will encourage the pupils to not just ‘follow the crowd’ – to be proud of their individuality, strengths and achievements. The students will become confident decision makers – they will make up their own minds and be ready to accept responsibility for what they do. They will grow through making choices and to holding to the choices that they have made. They will want to be honest with themselves and others.
The PSED, RSE and SMSC education of pupils at Westlea Primary School is cross-curricular and interwoven into all that we do as a school. Discreet lessons on aspects of PSED, RSE and SMSC are taught as necessary.
